Package still referencing old parameters from an old connection

I deleted and created a new OLE DB connection string then set all my connections to that string in my components in my SSIS package however below where it talks about EBN_TEMP1, that's an old database table that no longer exists after I unistalled and reinstalled SQL Server on this box. Why is it still refrencing old stuff? Is there some sort of refresh I have to do on my entire package due to the fact that I

1) Reinstalled SQL Server 2005

2) Deleted an old OLE DB Conenction my package was using (based on an old database that was in the previous SQL Server install) and createad a new OLE DB Connection in my package to point to a new database name after my reinstall of SQL Server 2005

BUTTONS:

OK

I don't remember the format of error message, but this string (EBN_TEMP1) is probably the name of data flow component (source, destination, etc), not the connection name. Just look around the package to find an object with such name. Or double click the error message to get editor for this component.sql

Package hanging on OLE DB Command with large result sets

I have an SSIS package (SQL 2005 SP2 and Visual Studio SP1) that does the following:

OLE DB Source --> Conditional Split --> OLE DB Command #1 --> OLE DB Command #2

The source reads from database A. Each row is variable-width and up to several KB wide, including two ntext columns.

Command #1 executes a stored proc in db A, using a bunch of inputs and two output parameters.

Cmd #2 executes an update in db B, using the two output params from cmd #1 as inputs.

When the rowset size is small, around 500, everything works fine.

However, when the rowset size is larger, around 5000, SSIS hangs when trying to execute cmd #2. The profiler shows that none of the cmd #2 updates are ever executed. No error messages are produced, and the connection never times out -- it just hangs forever.

If I replace the cmd #2 updates with a simple select, everything works fine. If I replace it with a stored proc that does an update, it hangs.

The work-around I came up with was to create a new table in db B, and do inserts into the table, but unless I'm missing something, this still seems like a bug...

Do you have the RetainSameConnection property set to true on the OLE DB connection manager you are using? Try that if not.

Package Configuration in Dev enviornment

Am I missing something, I can't find any way to specific the XML configuration file when I try and run my package in Debug of BIDS. My OLE DB connections are all failing due to a lack of a password. I can set the password in BIDS but its forgotten as soon as I start Debug or build the solution. The only way I seem to be able to run my package (now that I have enabled configurations) is to de-select the enable configurations box.

I've tried putting a configuartion file in the Deployment folder, the bin folder and the project root folder all to the same result.

Unless you are using Indirect Configurations (http://blogs.conchango.com/jamiethomson/archive/2005/11/02/2342.aspx) the path to the .dtsconfig file is stored in your package so you have to make sure that that is where the file resides.

Its got nothing to do with the Deployment, bin or project root folder.

The Indirect Configurations look handy I think I might try and change my package to use those.

So I finally figured out what was going on, this was driving me crazy. So when using the Package configuration wizard, in the specify configuration settings directly, I had typed a filename. I had clicked on the Browse button to see that it was looking into the project directory for the default directory on the file dialog. Apparently I never used the Save button while trying to set this up. I just assumed that was the directory and thus I never had the fully qualified path to the file. I had redone this while searching for a solution and even then, with the filename in the wizard text box I had clicked Browse, when I saw it was the directory where the file actually was I think I clicked Cancel.

So now I'm able to read the values. One error left and my first package is deployed, this might be a good friday after all! (edit: *no pun was intended*)

OWC in Windows 98 connect to Analysis Services 2005

Is there a posibility to make OWC installed in Windows 98 connect to Analysis Services 2005?

The thing is we cannot install the OLE DB Provider 9.0 for Analysis Services 2005, because it needs Windows Installer 3.1, and we really need to connect OWC to 2005, because we could do it with Analysis Services 2000.

How can we do?

Thanks in advance.

If you want to use OWC, you must have the OLEDB provider 9.0 for Analysis Services. OWC executes on the client and uses OLEDB to talk to the SSAS server.

Unfortunately the only options I can think of if you cannot get the OLEDB provider installed is to either upgrade the client or to look at using something other than OWC. Some of the commercial "thin client" solutions would probably work. Mosha has a list on his site at www.mosha.com/msolap .
