Packege success, despite task failure

Hello,

When I run my package, a task will fail, however, the package will claim that it was successful. Why is this, and how can I trigger a failed package when one task fails?

Thanks in advance.

Look at your package execution properties. You will see the "Fail package on Failure" option. The package claiming that it is successful is odd. You might want to also look at the "Maximum Error Count" property (again at the package level) to make sure you haven't set it higher than 1. Look at the "Force Execution Result" property also to make sure you don't have it set to "successful".

Hope this helps.

|||

Where do I find 'Maximum Error Count' and 'Force Execution Result'?

|||They are properties of the package (and of the control flow tasks and containers). If you click in an empty area on the control flow of the package, and hit F4, you should see the properties window.

It wasn't a wise decision to uninstall .NET 2.0, as SQL Server is deeply integrated with .NET 2.0.

Try reinstalling SQL Server, but I'm not sure if it will correctly identify your trial period.

Package Failure (The session was canceled)

Anyone seen this error or know what this could be? I got this when executing a package. It works on my dev machine, however failed with this error on another test machine/environment.

The session was canceled. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x800700F0) (Microsoft Visual Studio)

Program Location:

Package execution failed but no error (SQL2005)

I made an Integration Services Package which runs well if I start it manually
(also from SQL server Management Studio).
Now I have created a new job for the SQL server agent which need to run my
package.
After starting the job, it ends after a few seconds:
"The package execution failed" is the only message there is.
I assume it has something to do with security but for the test I am logged
in as a domain administrator which has all rights to all databases.
Can someone give some clues about how to solve this?
Thanks
Two possibilities come to my mind:
1- SQL Server run under its own account; so you should check the permission
for this account on both Windows and SQL-Server side (for example, does this
account has an explicit access to the database?)
2- You are using things like a network drive (Z:\Repertory\...) instead of
an UNC file name (\\Server\Repertory\...) which are specific to the login
account and unknown to other accounts.

Package "ShellPackage" failed for Copy Database

Hello,

I'm trying to migrate a SQL 2000 database to SQL 2005. I'm using the Copy Database Wizard and can copy the database using the detach and attach method, but I would rather use the SQL Management Object method. I get the following error when trying to use this method:

Package "ShellPackage" failed.

This error occurs directly after the following step:

Event Name: OnInformation
Message: Transferring data to database RestoreTest from RestoreTest
Operator: <WAN\first.lastname>
Source Name: BP-BLM-TESTSQL2_BLM-JCAMPVSSQL2_Transfer Objects Task
Source ID: {E6765B9E-1B40-49ED-B0CE-F99252AA34B6}
Execution ID: {213272C4-37E9-4A1E-A5B9-A2F9A61348B3}
Start Time: 12/20/2005 3:05:58 PM
End Time: 12/20/2005 3:05:58 PM
Data Code: 0

The database is created successfully but the data is not transfered. Also, the logins are created on the new server successfully. Has anyone seen this error or have any ideas on how to solve this problem? I would greatly appreciate any help!

Thanks,

Joseph

This is occurring for us as well.

I am assuming it is some sort of perms problem... anyone else?

I'm getting the shellPackage failed in the event log and this in the text log
"Could not find server 'serv4' in sysservers. Execute sp_addlinkedserver to add the server to sysservers.". Possible failure reasons: Problems with the query, "ResultSet" property not set correctly, parameters not set correctly, or connection not established correctly.

Overload resolution failed because no accessible 'Round' can be called without a narrowing con

Can someone translate my error to English please:

Overload resolution failed because no accessible 'Round' can be called without a narrowing conversion:

You may need to explicitly convert the expression result into a numeric data type. For instance, CDbl() would convert into a double.
E.g.: =Round( CDbl( .....) )

Overflow error

Hi:

I am trying to pump data from Sybase to SQL Server using SSIS and I get this error:

Conversion failed because the data overflowed the specified type

The data on the external column metadata shows as type database timestamp, as does the output column. The database values are all datetime, coming in through OLEDB to Sybase. Any idea what could be going on here?

Thanks,

Kayda

I should correct, the data is coming from a datetime field in Sybase to a datetime field in SQL Server. The values in Sybase are all datetime--it runs for awhile and then gives this error.

Any ideas?
|||Just wondering whether anyone has the answer to this--this problem is cropping up again. There isn't nothing wrong in Sybase with the datetime field as far as I can tell...|||

A quick search did not yield any good results on differences between SQL Server and Sybase DATETIME data types. The thing that seems most likely to me that there are different data ranges supported by each platform.

Can you select a MIN and MAX of the problem field when the error is occuring?

|||

Yes, I looked for NULLs and did a MIN and MAX on Sybase--just normal dates from 2004 up until "yesterday". I am running this pump on many other similar tables with the same time field. Is there a way to figure out exactly is going on?

Thanks,

Kayda

|||

Hi Kayda,

Is the error coming from the source component, or the destination (on insertion)?

What are your source and destination components?

Can you try to hook up an error output, and have the error rows redirected to see if you can identify the data that is failing?

Thanks

Mark

I tried something like that, but didn't seem to work. Do you mean just hooking a table to the red arrow or putting a transform in between? Could you give me an idea of what might work in this particular case?

It might be faster to connect the red arrow to a row count transformation and then add a data viewer to that path. But yes, you could hook that red arrow up to an OLE DB destination and store the contents in a table.

Just make sure that you aren't using the fast load option (for this test) so that you get each row in error instead of a full batch. Know that this is much slower though -- but it should give you the data at least along with an error code.
